Mayor to Hold Press Conference Today
City of Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and Public Service Director Chad Gamble will hold a joint press conference at 2:30pm today at the MSU Pavilion to promote the City of Lansing’s recycling collection at the Lansing Home & Garden Show.
The mayor and Mr. Gamble will also announce details of a Rain Barrel Sale to be held in May by the Public Service Department as part of the city’s Go Green! Initiative.
Starting on the Lansing Home & Garden Show’s opening day, Thursday, March 19th and continuing through Sunday, March 22nd, the City of Lansing will be on site at the Show collecting the following recyclable items:
- Athletic shoes
- Phone books
- Paper back and hard cover books
- Household batteries
- Cell phones
Thursday at the Lansing Home & Garden Show is “Eco Day”, and the first 100 visitors will receive a CFL (compact fluorescent light) bulb. CFLs are money-saving green alternatives to standard incandescent bulbs.
Sunday at the Show anyone bringing in a phone book to recycle receives half off admission.
