HGTV Host Jim Parks at Lansing Home and Garden Show

The 2009 Lansing Home and Garden Show is adding lots of fun and even some games to its popular free seminar series, when it welcomes HGTV host Jim Parks to this year’s Home Stage.

Parks is familiar to HGTV viewers as the host of New Spaces, a highly rated remodeling and home improvement program.  He brings his own blend of expertise and playfulness to the Lansing Show with high-energy presentations like "HomeOwner Quiz-O-Rama", which invites audience members to participate and win prizes in a game show format.

For his panel discussion, “Update My Kitchen and Bath!” Parks includes local experts by inviting selected Home and Garden Show exhibitors to join him in answering questions and providing guidance to homeowners.  In “Green Livin’ 101” he shares tips and tricks for saving money while being more earth-friendly.

Parks, a one-time carpenter's assistant and the son of a civil engineer, has over 25 years of broadcasting and video experience.  Through writing for home and garden magazines, he discovered the wealth of activity in emerging green technology and recently created Today's Green Minute - a daily column and podcast that highlights innovations that improve our stewardship of the Earth.

Parks lives in a 100-year-old home in the town in which he grew up, Evanston Ill., with his wife, Linda. He has two grown children.

Jim Parks appears at the Lansing Home & Garden Show Thursday through Sunday.  For a complete seminar schedule please visit www.LansingHomeShow.com
